PRIMARY - GETTING READY FOR SECONDARY
Times Tables Tip
Our experience suggests that pupils with a good grasp of their Times Tables do well at secondary school maths. Our best tip for struggling pupils is learn your times tables by heart. Recite them as often as you can. When you multiply 7 by 4 recite it as 7 x 4 = 28, so that you have the three numbers 7, 4 and 28 connected in your head. Also helps when dividing.
There are many websites and YouTube videos to help; one interesting new resource is an app to recite Times Tables to popular songs which can be found HERE.

High-performing Primary Pupils
- Investigations to develop analytical thinking
For high-performing KS2 pupils, we offer a series of Mathematical
Investigations to get you thinking like Mathematicians, to hone your skills
in problem solving and as an introduction to some of the new topics you will
encounter at secondary school.
We do not tutor 11+ applicants, however pupils seeking a place at a grammar school or common entrance to
Independent Schools at 11 and 13 have found these investigations useful when developing analytical and critical thinking skills.
In-School Training
We also help schools with programmes for exceptional Year 6 pupils whose teachers have called us in to stretch a pupil with KS3 and KS4 topics, sometimes up to GCSE level. We work closely with the pupil's teacher to tailor lessons to suit the individual pupil.
